There is an outside Judge for all competitions. All in-house competitions are open for any fully paid up club member to enter.
CLUB COMPETITIONS
1. Three Club Competitions are held during the year starting September.
2. You can enter up to 2 prints and or 2 digital images on any subject into each club competition. NOTE: As a mark for these entries will be used to determine the Photographer of the Year and Trevor Owen Trophy, members should note although fewer than the specified number of images may be entered this will result in fewer points at the end of the year.
3. Digital Images should be 1400px wide max by 1050px high max (72dpi preferred) and each file titled. They can be handed in on a CD or memory stick or sent to the internal competition secretary by email (intcompsec@pyle-porthcawl-ps.co.uk).
4. Prints should be mounted 50cm x 40cm. Please put the Print’s title and your membership number on the back. DO NOT PUT YOUR NAME ON THE PRINT for in-house competitions.
5. Digital Images and or Prints must be the work of the photographer and not copied from other photographs, works of art or other documents.
6. Images cannot have been entered in any previous Club Competition or Portfolio Competition either as a Print or Digital Image, although they may have been entered in any other competitions, internal or external.
7. Images will be marked out of 20 in each category. The Print with the highest mark will win the Club Print Trophy and the Digital Image with the highest mark will win the Club Projected Image Trophy. In the event of a tie the judge will decide on the winner.
8. Marks will go towards the Photographer of the Year and Trevor Owen Trophy.
9. Entries other than by email must be accompanied by a completed entry form. Emailed entries imply an entry form.
MALCOLM NUGENT PORTFOLIO COMPETITION
There are four subjects in this competition
Nature: Animals, Plants, Trees, Insects etc
Portrait or candid (people)
Landscape or seascape
Abstract or still life
1. One image is required for each subject and the same image cannot be entered into more than one subject.
2. Images must be ALL Prints or ALL Digital Images.
3. Images must be the author’s own work.
4. Images must not have been entered into ANY other in-house competition.
5. Digital Images should be 1400px wide max by 1050px high max (72dpi preferred) and each file titled. They can be handed in on a CD or memory stick or sent to the internal competition secretary by email (intcompsec@pyle-porthcawl-ps.co.uk).
6. Prints should be mounted 50cm x 40cm.
7. Images must be clearly marked on the back top left hand corner for Prints, or name for digital images, with the title, subject and membership number of the author.
8. Members are advised that work entered on any subject that does not conform to the subject will not be awarded any marks.
9. The winner will be the competitor with the highest aggregate number of marks. In the event of a tie the competitor with the highest mark will be the winner. In the event of a further tie the judge will decide the winner.
10. Marks will go towards the Photographer of the Year and Trevor Owen Trophy.
11. Entries other than by email must be accompanied by a completed entry form. Emailed entries imply an entry form.
CLYNE JONES TROPHY
1. You can enter up to 3 projected images on any subject – NO PRINTS
2. Digital Images should be 1400px wide max by 1050px high max (72dpi preferred) and each file titled. They can be handed in on a CD or memory stick or sent to the internal competition secretary by email (intcompsec@pyle-porthcawl-ps.co.uk).
3. They may have been entered in ANY previous competition (including the Clyne Jones Competition).
4. Images must be the author’s own work. Elements not of the author’s work must not be added to the image.
5. The two highest marks from the images entered will be totalled to determine the winner. In the event of a tie, the third image will be taken into consideration. In the event of a further tie, the judge will decide on the winner.
6. Entries other than by email must be accompanied by a completed entry form. Emailed entries imply an entry form.
7. The Clyne Jones Trophy is an independent competition, which does NOT count towards the Photographer of the Year or Trevor Owen Trophy.
ALAN THOMAS MEMORIAL TROPHY
1. You can enter up to 4 MONOCHROME images on any subject.
2. Images can be Prints and or Digital Images.
3. It is a combined competition so Digital Images and Prints will be judged directly against each other.
4. Prints should be mounted 50cm x 40cm. Please put the Print’s title and your membership number on the back. DO NOT PUT YOUR NAME ON THE PRINT for in-house competitions.
5. Digital Images should be 1400px wide max by 1050px high max (72dpi preferred) and each file titled. They can be handed in on a CD or memory stick or sent to the internal competition secretary by email (intcompsec@pyle-porthcawl-ps.co.uk).

DENNIS LINES COMPETITION
1. You can enter up to 4 images on any subject.
2. Images can be Prints and or Digital Images.

5. Digital Images should be 1400px wide max by 1050px high max (72dpi preferred) and each file titled. They can be handed in on a CD or memory stick or sent to the internal competition secretary by email (intcompsec@pyle-porthcawl-ps.co.uk).
6. Prints should be mounted 50cm x 40cm.

CLUB PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR
There are two sections, Prints and Digital Images. The Points awarded to the images entered into each of the three Club Competitions during the year will be totalled to produce the overall marks for each section. The marks from the Malcolm Nugent Portfolio Competition (Prints or Digital Images) will be added to each section score. The member with the highest aggregate score in each section will be the section winner. The results will be announced at the AGM.
TREVOR OWEN TROPHY
The marks awarded throughout the year for both Prints and Digital Images in all in-house competitions with the exception of the Clyne Jones Trophy, will be totalled and the member with the highest aggregate score will be awarded the Trevor Owen Trophy at the AGM.
EXTERNAL COMPETITIONS
Any images entered into In-house Competitions will be held in a pool for external competitions, unless the author subsequently stops being a member or needs a Print for personal use.
